TrademarkWatch

Trademark research in ChatGPT

TrademarkWatch is operated by Charles Rumley.

Look up U.S. trademark records by name or application serial number with TrademarkWatch. Results include status, classes, goods and services, and links to the source records.

Connect the research tools

In ChatGPT, open the plugin settings and choose Add custom MCP server, if available for your account or workspace. Use this server address:

https://trademarkwatchapp.com/mcp

Name it TrademarkWatch and select no authentication. After connecting, try these requests:

This is a custom connection. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings; a public directory listing is separate.

Understand the results

Matching ignores capitalization and preserves accents and punctuation. For example, an exact search for CAFÉ does not include CAFE.

Classes describe categories of goods and services. You can search by name without choosing a class. When classes are shown, the name comes first—for example, Clothing, Footwear & Headwear (25).

Name searches find exact and prefix text matches in our ingested USPTO index. They do not include phonetic, semantic, logo, international, or common-law searches. Status and class filters can narrow the results, and the response says when more records exist.

Historical and daily coverage are unverified. The most recent import time does not establish a complete source-data cutoff. Check the linked USPTO record for current details.

An empty result does not mean a name is available. This is preliminary research, not a clearance opinion or legal advice. Consult a qualified trademark attorney for clearance or filing decisions.

What the tools can do

The tools read public trademark records. They do not create monitoring watches, access customer accounts, send alerts, file applications, or manage subscriptions. No TrademarkWatch account is needed for these research tools.

Setting up monitoring

Monitoring checks for potentially relevant U.S. trademark filings over time. If you already have an eligible TrademarkWatch account with room for another watch, sign in on the website, add the name you want to monitor, and review its classes and variations. Email alerts follow your account settings.

A ChatGPT search does not start monitoring. Account linking and watch creation inside ChatGPT are not available yet. Monitoring coverage depends on the records we have imported; alerts are a reason to investigate, not a finding of infringement.

If a search fails

A data error means the lookup could not be completed. If a broad name search times out, ask for exact matches or use a more specific name. A rate limit means you should wait before trying again. None of these results tells you whether a name is available.
