Privacy for trademark research tools
Updated November 7, 2026. TrademarkWatch processes the name or application serial number and any class, status, or result-limit filters sent to its research tools to return matching public USPTO records.
The tools do not request your full conversation, email address, password, payment information, or customer account access. Searches do not create an account or a monitoring watch. Anonymous searches do not call our AI variation or match-review providers.
Storage and service providers
Search arguments are processed for the lookup and are not saved as a search-history table or used to create monitoring records. Rate limiting uses a keyed hash of the request IP address in short-lived counters, normally expiring after one minute. Infrastructure logs may include access times, IP addresses, response status, and error information for operation and security.
Our service runs on AWS infrastructure in the United States. Error monitoring uses Sentry. We do not sell research queries or use them for advertising. Your assistant provider separately controls the conversation and how it sends tool arguments to us.
Usage and website analytics
We record which research tool was called, whether the request succeeded or failed, and how long it took. These usage events do not include your search text, application serial number, conversation, or account identity. We use Grafana to view operational logs and usage totals.
Our website help and research pages use Google Analytics to measure visits. Links from the plugin may include campaign tags so we can understand where website visitors came from. If you later sign up in the same browser, we may save the first recorded visit source with your account for attribution. The attribution cookie lasts up to 90 days. This does not connect an anonymous research call to your account. See our website privacy policy for more about website analytics.
How long we keep data
We don't keep a search-history database or cache search results. Rate-limit counters expire after about one minute. AWS CloudWatch logs for requests to the research service use a 30-day retention period; AWS normally removes expired log data within another 72 hours. Sentry error events are retained for 30 days on our current plan. Issue summaries and aggregate error counts can remain after individual events expire, and Sentry's backup deletion cycle can take up to 90 days.
TrademarkWatch is operated by Charles Rumley. These retention periods cover the research integration's operational data. Public trademark source records are kept as part of our research index and are separate from your search activity.
Your choices
You can stop sending requests or remove the custom connection from your assistant's settings at any time. Contact support@trademarkwatchapp.com for privacy questions or deletion requests. Do not send secrets or an entire conversation in a research query.
